SO₃ Sulfonation Plant
Our SO₃ Sulfonation Plant is an advanced continuous sulfonation system designed for the production of high-quality sulfonated products using sulfur trioxide as the sulfonating agent.
The plant is widely used for the manufacture of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA), Alpha Olefin Sulfonates (AOS), fatty alcohol sulfates, and other sulfonated chemical products.
The system combines controlled SO₃ generation, air drying, organic feed preparation, falling film sulfonation, aging, hydrolysis, neutralization, and product treatment to achieve stable and continuous production.
Production Principle
In a typical SO₃ sulfonation process, sulfur is burned to generate sulfur dioxide, which is subsequently converted into sulfur trioxide through catalytic oxidation.
The SO₃-containing gas is carefully mixed with dry air and introduced into the sulfonation reactor. The organic raw material is then contacted with SO₃ under controlled conditions to produce the desired sulfonated product.
For LABSA production, Linear Alkylbenzene (LAB) reacts with SO₃ to form sulfonic acid, followed by aging and stabilization.
